The second film in the AIGA Boston Film Series is Doug Wilson’s Linotype: The Film, a documentary about the linotype type casting machine. While revolutionary in the 19th century, the linotype press fell out of favor among newspaper and magazine printers in the 1970s, when digital publishing systems became the industry standard. To be officially released this summer, the film centers on the aging metal printing devices and their highly-skilled operators, who seek to pass their skills to a new generation of printing enthusiasts.

Join us in viewing Linotype: The Film on Monday, Feb. 13 at the Paramount Theater in Downtown Crossing. The screening begins at 6:30 p.m. with doors opening at 6 p.m. Following the film will be a Q&A session featuring director Doug Wilson and local design legend and MacArthur Fellow Matthew Carter, creator of the Georgia and Verdana screen fonts and winner of the AIGA Fellows Award.

Joe, I think that's because it's sold out.
